* Η …οικονομική κρίση δεν στάθηκε ικανή να χαλάσει ούτε φέτος τη μεγάλη γιορτή στίβου της Καλαμάτας. Περισσότερος κόσμος στις κερκίδες, αρκετές σημαντικές επιδόσεις –παρ’ ότι βρισκόμαστε στην αρχή της σεζόν- αλλά και μεσσηνιακές επιτυχίες συνέθεσαν το σκηνικό μιας επιτυχημένης από κάθε άποψη διοργάνωσης. Κάτι που δεν αλλάζει ούτε από την απόφαση να μην γίνουν απονομές στους νικητές, αφού μπορεί να «χτύπησε κάπως» σε όσους παρακολουθούν τους αγώνες κάθε χρόνο και διαπίστωσαν ότι το βάθρο …απουσίαζε, αλλά είναι κάτι που συνηθίζεται σε ανάλογα μίτινγκ και επιπλέον βοήθησε στο να υπάρξει καλύτερη ροή στο αγωνιστικό πρόγραμμα, χωρίς διακοπές και καθυστερήσεις.
* Εκείνο που μένει τελικά είναι ότι με έναν πολύ χαμηλό προϋπολογισμό οι διοργανωτές του Μεσσηνιακού κατάφεραν με πολύ μεράκι και συναισθανόμενοι το ιστορικό βάρος ενός αγώνα που πρωτοδιοργανώθηκε το 1956 να κρατήσουν ζωντανό το μίτινγκ, διατηρώντας υψηλό το επίπεδο, όπως πιστοποιείται από την εξασφάλιση ορίων για διεθνείς διοργανώσεις και ατομικά ρεκόρ.
* Η Περιφέρεια Πελοποννήσου, ο Δήμος Καλαμάτας, η Γενική Γραμματεία Αθλητισμού, ο ΣΕΓΑΣ, το Επιμελητήριο Μεσσηνίας και ο Καλαματιανός επιχειρηματίας Σταύρος Παπαδόπουλος στήριξαν αυτή την προσπάθεια και μπορούν κι αυτοί να αισθάνονται δικαιωμένοι.
* Ο κόσμος κέρδισε σε μεγάλο βαθμό το δικό του στοίχημα, κάνοντας αισθητή την παρουσία στις κερκίδες του Σταδίου.

Χαιρετισμό απηύθυναν ακόμα ο αντιπρόεδρος του ΣΕΓΑΣ, Γιάννης Σταματόπουλος, ο υφυπουργός οικονομικών Δημήτρης Κουσελάς, ο αντιπεριφερειάρχης Πελοποννήσου Χρήστος Μαλαπάνης και ο Δήμαρχος Καλαμάτας, Παναγιώτης Νίκας.
* Στο αγωνιστικό κομμάτι το ενδιαφέρον των Μεσσήνιων κέντρισαν οι κορυφαίοι συμπατριώτες μας αθλητές που δεν χάλασαν το …χατήρι στον κόσμο, αλλά δεν ήταν μόνο αυτοί που κέρδισαν το θαυμασμό του κοινού. Ο Λούης Τσάτουμας μπορεί να μην πήρε την πρωτιά (νικητής στο μήκος ήταν ο Ρώσος Μένκοβ με 8,28), αλλά με καλύτερο άλμα στα 8,19 κι ένα ακόμα στα 8,12 μ. εξασφάλισε το «εισιτήριο» για το παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα στο Νταεγού (την ερχόμενη Πέμπτη θ’ αγωνιστεί και στο «Ντάιμοντ Λιγκ» στο Όσλο.
* Δύο ακόμα αθλητές έπιασαν τα όρια για το παγκόσμιο κι αυτοί ήταν οι Γερβάσιος Φιλιππίδης και Σπύρος Λεμπέσης που χάρισαν έναν εκπληκτικό αγώνα ακοντισμού. Ο Φιλιππίδης (ΠΓΣ) στην 6η και τελευταία προσπάθεια έριξε 82.38μ. και την 3η καλύτερη επίδοση όλων των εποχών στη χώρα μας (έπιασε επίσης το υψηλό όριο για τους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες στο Λονδίνο το 2012). Ο Σπύρος Λεμπέσης (ΑΓΕ Βοιωτίας) είχε εντυπωσιάσει πρώτος με 81.12μ. και έπιασε κι εκείνος το όριο (80.50μ.) για το Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα της Κορέας.
* Βασικό κίνητρο για πολλούς Έλληνες αθλητές ήταν ακόμη το κυνήγι της πρώτης θέσης -από ελληνικής πλευράς- στο αγώνισμά τους στα Παπαφλέσσεια που ήταν πρόκριμα για το πρωτάθλημα εθνικών ομάδων (Μπρούνο Ζάουλι) στη Σμύρνη, 18-19 Ιουνίου. Έτσι το «εισιτήριο» για την Τουρκία εξασφάλισαν στα 400μ ο Δημήτρης Γράβαλος, στα 800μ ο Κώστας Νακόπουλος, στα 110μ εμπόδια ο Κώστας Δουβαλίδης, στον ακοντισμό ο Γερβάσιος Φιλιππίδης, στο τριπλούν ο Σταύρος Γεωργίου, ενώ στο μήκος θα πάει ο 3ος Γιώργος Τσάκωνας. Στις γυναίκες η Γεωργία Κοκλώνη πήρε το εισιτήριο για τα 100μ, στα 400μ η Αγνή Δερβένη (σε μια κούρσα όπου επανεμφανίστηκε η Φανή Χαλκιά που τερμάτισε 5η με 57.66), στα 800μ η Ελένη Φιλάνδρα, στα 400μ εμπόδια η Χριστίνα Χατζή, η Τόνια Στεργίου στο ύψος, η Δέσποινα Κοκούμη στο μήκος και η Σάββα Λίκα στον ακοντισμό.
* Στις «μικρές» ηλικιακά κατηγορίες τέσσερις αθλητές πέτυχα όρια. Στα 800μ. η Μεσσήνια Ελένη Θεοδωρακοπούλου που τερμάτισε 4η σημειώνοντας ατομικό ρεκόρ 2.04.32 και εξασφάλισε το εισιτήριο για το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα Νέων στην Οστράβα. Στο επί κοντώ ο με μεσσηνιακές ρίζες, Παναγιώτης Λάσκαρης με 5.35μ. (ένα ακόμα αγώνισμα με πολλές συγκινήσεις) που έπιασε το όριο για το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα Εφήβων-Νεανίδων στο Ταλίν και πέτυχε ατομικό ρεκόρ (προηγούμενο 5.25μ.), η Αναστασία Καρακατσάνη με 2.06.67 έπιασε το όριο για το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα Εφήβων-Νεανίδων στο Ταλίν, σημειώνοντας ατομικό ρεκόρ, ενώ «άγγιξε» το πανελλήνιο ρεκόρ νεανίδων της Ειρήνης Θεοδωρίδου με 2.06.36. Και τέλος, η Βασιλική Κουτσούμπου (ΓΣ Αρκαδίας) με 5.95μ. στο μήκος, έπιασε το όριο για το Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα Παίδων-Κορασίδων στη Λιλ, πετυχαίνοντας ατομικό ρεκόρ (προηγούμενο 5.88μ.).
** Ανταρσία Ανδρουλάκη
* Για επιδεικτική αλαζονεία κατηγορεί τον ηγετικό πυρήνα της κυβέρνησης ο βουλευτής του ΠΑΣΟΚ Μίμης Ανδρουλάκης, σε άρθρο του, λέγοντας ότι ξόδεψε πολύτιμο κεφάλαιο εμπιστοσύνης και καταγγέλλει παράλληλα και την ηγεσία της ΝΔ, ότι οδήγησε την χώρα στο χείλος του γκρεμού.
** Απέκλεισε το ενδεχόμενο εκλογών ο Γ. Παπανδρέου
* Κατά τη διάρκεια της άτυπης συνεδρίασης του υπουργικού συμβουλίου, ο πρωθυπουργός Γιώργος Παπανδρέου απέκλεισε το ενδεχόμενο εκλογών.
* Την πληροφορία επιβεβαίωσε ο υπουργός Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης και Ανταγωνιστικότητας, Μιχάλης Χρυσοχοΐδης, ο οποίος αποχώρησε προ ολίγου από το Μέγαρο Μαξίμου, λόγω ανειλημμένης υποχρέωσης.
* Ο κ. Χρυσοχοΐδης χαρακτήρισε την όλη συζήτηση, που διαρκεί ήδη περισσότερο από πέντε ώρες, ως «εκτεταμένη και εις βάθος».
** Ο ΛΑ.Ο.Σ. για την παραπομπή του Ά. Τσοχατζόπουλου
* «Και μη χειρότερα» ήταν η αντίδραση του ΛΑ.Ο.Σ. στην πρόταση για παραπομπή του πρώην υπουργού Άμυνας, Άκη Τσοχατζόπουλου, σχετικά με την υπόθεση της προμήθειας των γερμανικών υποβρυχίων που διερευνήθηκε από Προανακριτική Επιτροπή της Βουλής.

** Ιστορική απόφαση για τη σφαγή του Διστόμου
* Απερρίφθη από το Ανώτατο Δικαστήριο της Ιταλίας η προσφυγή του γερμανικού Δημοσίου, κατά απόφασης ιταλικού δικαστηρίου που επιδικάζει αποζημίωση 40 εκατ. ευρώ στους απογόνους των θυμάτων της σφαγής του Διστόμου από τον γερμανικό στρατό Κατοχής, κατά τον Β` Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες της zougla.gr.
* Η απόφαση αυτή είναι άμεσα εκτελεστή στην Ιταλία για το σύνολο του ποσού της αποζημίωσης και ανοίγει τον δρόμο και για άλλες αποζημιώσεις.
* Στις 10 Ιουνίου του 1944, στο πλαίσιο των διαβόητων «αντιποίνων», στρατιώτες των γερμανικών στρατευμάτων δολοφόνησαν 218 ανθρώπους από το Δίστομο, «οι οποίοι δεν είχαν καμιά σχέση με τις επιχειρήσεις των ανταρτών», αναφέρει σχετική ανακοίνωση της Ομάδας Εργασίας για το Δίστομο.

*Επιστολή, με την οποία συγχαίρει την ΚΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός για την κατάκτηση του πρωταθλήματος, εξέδωσε η «πράσινη» ΠΑΕ. Η επιστολή αναφέρει:

Kallas notes innovation is one of our hopes to move to the future transport system and tackle the challenges on the way. Europe has an extraordinary potential for innovation, not the least in the transport sector.
Unlike the interstates, which were paid for exclusively out of gasoline taxes and other highway user fees, all of the capital costs and much of the operating costs of high-speed trains will be subsidized by taxpayers who will rarely ride the trains. This is the way it works in France and Japan, where, despite having population distributions much more conducive to rail travel, residents ride high-speed trains an average of less than 500 miles a year.
Nor will high-speed rail offer any environmental benefits. The average intercity auto trip today uses less energy per passenger mile than the average train. While it takes a lot of energy to move trains 150 miles per hour or more, autos are getting cleaner and more energy-efficient every year, so by 2025 the average car will be greener than the most efficient train. High-speed rail will do little more than drain our economy. It is foolish to ask taxpayers to spend hundreds of billions on trains that few can afford to use.

Hagai Perets of Harvard discovered a new euthanasia of stars! These stellar euthanasias are different from known supernovas in several ways. Like ordinary supernovas, they can briefly become the brightest objects in the sky, but they are more short-lived, waxing and waning in a matter of days rather than weeks, as with more typical supernova. They also eject far less material in their explosions and don't seem to be powered by known processes.
"It's a very good puzzle," Perets says. "This is very strange."
Supernovas are among the most spectacular events in the universe, marking one way that stars end their lives, a form of euthanasia for stars! They can briefly become so bright that they outshine their entire home galaxies. They're important for another reason as well. Because stars are fueled by nuclear fusion, in which smaller, lighter elements fuse to form heavier elements, they become factories in which heavier elements such as carbon, oxygen, and iron are created. The explosions that destroy stars create even heavier elements and scatter them over large distances to places, including Earth, where they eventually can be used by living things.
Perets points out these new supernovas may result from the explosion of a kind of star called a white dwarf and that such a euthanasia blast may involve only the star's upper layers. Because white dwarf stars are smaller and less dense than larger ones, these new euthanasia explosions may prove to be a source for intermediate elements.
"Maybe it produces a large fraction of the calcium in the universe," Perets notes. "Probably other intermediate elements are produced in higher quantities."
Researchers at the California Institute of Technology have already uncovered another example of this type of star euthanasia, called SN 2010X. Perets notes more star euthanasias may be found now that astronomers know how to look for them, producing additional information that may help solve the mystery of star euthanasia.

Πιο τρυφερός από ποτέ έχει γίνει τον τελευταίο καιρό ο Φώτης Βαλλάτος με την αγαπημένη του Δήμητρα Ματσούκα λόγω της πρόσφατης περιπέτειας της υγείας της. Μέχρι και κοτσιδάκια της έφτιαξε για να είναι όμορφη στο νοσοκομείο. Η ηθοποιός το πρωί του περασμένου Σαββάτου μεταφέρθηκε στη Γενική Κλινική Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου και υποβλήθηκε σε χειρουργική επέμβαση, διότι είχε ένα σοβαρό τραυματισμό στη σκηνή του θεάτρου, στην παράσταση για το "Ημέρωμα της Στρίγγλας". Τις μέρες που παρέμεινε στο νοσοκομείο, ο δημοσιογράφος έφτιαχνε συνεχώς τα μαλλιά της αγαπημένης του και μάλιστα ο φωτογραφικός φακός τους απαθανάτισε την στιγμή που έφτιαχνε κοτσιδάκια στα μαλλιά της. Τελικά η ηθοποιός πήρε εξιτήριο την Τετάρτη το απόγευμα και χρειάστηκε να μετακινηθεί με τη βοήθεια ενός "Π" προκειμένου να μην κουράσει το πόδι της. * Reporters Without Borders is appalled to learn that the body of Syed Saleem Shahzad, an Islamabad-based blogger and investigative journalist who had been missing for the past two days, was found today in his abandoned car 100 km north of Islamabad.

The International Federation of Journalists and Reporters Without Borders had just sent a joint letter to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani calling for immediate action to locate Shahzad, who wrote about Islamic militants and Al-Qaeda for the online newspaper Asia Today.
Pakistan is a terrorist nation. From the very beginning, the partnership between the US and Pakistan has been a marriage of convenience. Pervez Musharraf asserts it was a forced marriage. "We are stunned by this news and we would like to express our full support for his family and colleagues," Reporters Without Borders secretary-general Jean-Francois Julliard said. "Shahzad was an experienced journalist who covered very sensitive subjects and it is highly likely that his reporting upset people within the government or armed forces.
"We urge the Pakistani president and prime minister to firmly condemn this murder and to do everything possible to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice without delay."
In the fall of 2001, Americans toppled the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Pakistan had previously helped to install the Taliban in power because it viewed it as an ally against its archenemy, India. So the end of the Taliban also meant the collapse of Pakistan's defensive strategy. Since then, Islamabad has worried that the US could hand over Pakistani intelligence to India.
Colleagues told Reporters Without Borders that Shahzad was last seen at around 6 p.m. on 29 May when he left his F-8 Sector residence in Islamabad to go the Dunya TV studios for the recording of a current affairs programme. People who tried to call him found that his mobile phone had been switched off. His brother-in-law went to the Markaz district police station to report him missing at 2 a.m. on 30 May.
Pakistan is a society based on tribal groups. Each clan maintains a complicated network of relations, like a mafia. Under these conditions, it hardly seems imaginable that Osama bin Laden could have spent years living unnoticed just a stone's throw away from Pakistan's most elite military academy, an institution as assiduously guarded as the US's West Point or Great Britain's Sandhurst. Pakistani Intelligence officers knew about bin Laden's home, but they got kickbacks to keep it secret!
Police today discovered his car parked next to a canal in Jhelum Sarai Alamgir, more than 100 km north of Islamabad. His body was found inside together his Asia Times press card and the press card of a journalist called Hamza Mudassar Ameer of the Al Quds media centre.
Shahzad's latest article for Asia Times was about a Taliban-led attack on Mehran naval base in Karachi on 22 May in which 11 soldiers and four attackers were killed. He said in his report that Al-Qaeda had established a "good network" within the Pakistani navy and that "there were negotiations between an Al-Qaeda operative in North Waziristan and naval officers."
Experienced journalists in Islamabad said they suspected that Shahzad was kidnapped and executed by the military intelligence agency known as the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Human Rights Watch also said it had learned from "credible sources" that Shahzad had been in ISI custody.
Sources close to Shahzad said he had reported getting several warnings from the security agencies in the past in connection with his reporting. This would tend to support the theory that he was kidnapped and killed in connection with his coverage of the attack on the naval base.
Shahzad's murder brings to 16 the number of journalist killed since the start of 2010 in Pakistan, which is ranked 151st out of 178 countries in the 2010 Reporters Without Borders press freedom index.
When Prime Minister Gilani passed through Paris on 5 May, Reporters Without Borders handed him a report on press freedom violations in Pakistan and told him that the safety of journalists should be a priority for his government. http://venitism.blogspot.com/

Turkey began a transition to democracy in 2002-2005, when it undertook complete reforms in order to begin Fourth Reich(EU) membership negotiations. But now Erdogan supports a new law that will filter the internet. The new government system calls for netizens to select filtering options. Turks blindly assume the government will take care of them. Turcokleptocrats, including Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, assert the filters are only meant to protect children and families from harmful online content. Many Turks are not Internet savvy and don't know how to install personal filtering software.
Netizens in Turkey are concerned that Turcokleptocrats have more sinister motives since the filter could represent the first step towards an even more restrictive internet policy. They are trying to develop a control mechanism, and they are using lies as an excuse to set up a system in which they can manipulate citizens.
With the national filter system in place, the government will be able to add sites to the blacklist freely without asking a judge. A lack of transparency is another concern as the list of blacklisted sites would also not be made public. Access could be cut to online material critical of the government or companies close to the ruling party without any form of explanation. There are no criteria, anything can be included within that black list.
Diplomats use tact to gain strategic advantage or to find mutually acceptable solutions to a common challenge, one set of tools being the phrasing of statements in a non-confrontational or polite manner. But some Greek diplomats use freak, instead of tact! Turkish diplomats far outsmart Greek diplomats on a consistent basis, especially Merciless Marilizard, who does unbelievable masochistic stupid things.
